Recycle Plastics Australia — Industrial Energy Project

Client
Recycle Plastics Australia (RPA)
Location
South Australia
Project Duration
Sector
Industrial / behind-the-meter energy (recycling facility)
Rayo Entity
Rayo (RMS / Tendering & Estimating ref 005. RPA)
Contract Type
Staged — consulting → engineering → Design & Construct (est. $7M)

Rayo was engaged by Recycle Plastics Australia to help the business understand its site energy consumption and generation options, and to define an engineering and delivery pathway for an industrial plastics-recycling facility in South Australia.

Rayo structured the engagement as a staged process — beginning with a consulting study covering technical, constructability and commercial considerations (including financial modelling and whole-of-life returns) and building toward a design & construct delivery

The Client

Recycle Plastics Australia operates in the industrial plastics-recycling sector.

For an energy-intensive industrial operation, understanding energy consumption and on-site generation options is central to cost, sustainability and expansion decisions. RPA engaged Rayo to build that understanding and to develop a clear, costed pathway from concept to construction.

The Scope

The engagement centres on the energy infrastructure for an industrial recycling facility — assessing site energy demand and generation strategy, then engineering and (ultimately) constructing the solution.

Rayo’s Stage 1 approach consolidated technical, constructability and commercial analysis — including financial modelling and whole-of-life project returns — into a refined project report to guide RPA’s decision.

Key Elements

  • Stage 1 — site energy consumption and generation strategy assessment
  • Technical, constructability and commercial analysis, including financial modelling and whole-of-life returns
  • Consolidated project report to inform the investment decision
  • Stage 2 — engineering / design development
  • Stage 3 — Design & Construct delivery of the energy solution

The Delivery

Approach & execution

Rayo used a staged engagement model — consult, then design, then build — so RPA could make an informed investment decision before committing to construction, with Rayo positioned to deliver each subsequent stage.

The commercial and technical work was led by Rayo’s new-business and pre-contracts function, drawing on trusted delivery partners for solar (Solmech) and controls/electrical (AZZO).

The strategy targeted early-mover positioning in the industrial energy space, working with clients and contractors Rayo knows and trusts

What Rayo delivered

  • Stage 1 energy strategy consulting engagement scoped (site energy consumption & generation strategy, financial modelling, whole-of-life returns, consolidated report)

Why Rayo?

Rayo offers industrial clients a single partner across the full energy pathway — from understanding site energy and generation options, through engineering and financial modelling, to design & construct delivery.

For RPA, that meant a cost-competitive, staged approach that de-risked the investment decision and kept a clear line of sight from concept to a constructed, whole-of-life-optimised energy solution.

Technical depth

Combined energy-strategy, engineering and financial-modelling capability — assessing site energy demand and generation options and translating them into a costed, constructable design.

Delivery discipline

A staged consult-design-build model that de-risks the client’s decision, with Rayo able to carry the project through each stage to a design & construct outcome.

Team & experience

Rayo’s new-business, pre-contracts and delivery team with trusted specialist partners (Solmech — solar; AZZO — controls/electrical).

Safety & compliance

ISO-certified management systems (ISO 9001 / 14001 / 45001) applied across engineering and construction.
